Christmas Dinner Help!

December 21, 2010

This year the MHK staff will be tasked with a new mission:  cooking Christmas dinner.  Normally we are on the opposite side of the country at this time of year, feasting on the culinary toils of others, but certain events have dictated that we remain planted right where we are this holiday season.  And therefore, we will be providing the food for that jolly night of merriment.  We know two things that we will be making:  baked ham and mashed potatoes.  But aside from that, we need ideas!  What are your traditional favorites for this meal?  Soups?  Salads?  Vegetarian entrees?  All ideas are welcome and will not be ridiculed…publicly.  We’ll let you know the winning suggestions later.  Thanks from the Mouse House Kitchen!

P.S.  Don’t forget – MHK gear is available for you at the MHK Store!  Click the link on the right to shop!

  1. Made these for Thanksgiving and could not stop eating. Doing again for Christmas. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/brussels-sprouts-with-pecans-and-cranberries-recipe/index.html

  2. If you want to do two starches I did these in addition to mashed. Another favorite of mine. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ask-aida/roasted-sweet-potatoes-with-pecans-and-spiced-maple-sauce-recipe/index.html

    • Thanks so much for both of these! I don’t know about the brussel sprouts…you probably have to like brussel sprouts to like this recipe, I’d imagine. 🙂
The sweet potatoes look good – I like the cayenne/maple syrup combo idea!
