Jamaican Me…Turkey Burgers?

It might be hard for some of you to believe, but we are proud to present another delicious turkey burger recipe! We found this one on the back of a jar of Blue Mountain Jamaican Curry Powder, and it did not disappoint. The key to any good turkey burger is keeping it moist and flavorful, since turkey burgers are extremely lean. This recipe incorporates onions and tomatoes into the patties, which adds moisture to the burger’s interior. The garlic, ginger, and curry powder create a wonderful blend of flavors, and the patties are bound together nicely by the breadcrumbs and egg. We topped this with a little hot pepper sauce for an extra kick (the curry powder already has a little spice to it). It all adds up to a nice twist on conventional turkey burgers that will leave your taste buds tingling. Enjoy!

Hot Curried Turkey Burgers

(serves 4)
2 lbs. ground turkey
¾ cup soft white bread crumbs
¾ cup finely chopped onions
½ cup coarsely chopped fresh tomatoes
1 tsp. finely chopped fresh ginger
1 egg
1 tbsp. Blue Mountain Curry Powder
1 tsp. salt

4 burger buns or onion rolls

Combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, curry, salt and egg in deep bowl. Knead vigorously until mixture is smooth. Divide into 4 equal portions, shape into flat patties. Pan-fry or grill until fully cooked, approx. 5 minutes per side. Place cooked patties on buns. Top with some hot pepper sauce if desired. Eat!
